Dr. Ivan Lee did his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University and obtained his Doctor of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, (where he was on the Dean's list) in 1997. He completed an internship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida and did a residency in ocular disease at the Wilkes-Barre Veteran's Administration Medical Center in 1998. He has special interests in geriatric eye care and low vision.
Along with examining general eyecare patients, Dr. Lee has started a low vision service within our office. He uses the newest optical and non-optical devices to treat patients with macular degeneration, advanced glaucoma, strokes and other conditions that can severely affect the vision. This requires the use of special telescopes, magnifiers, closed circuit televisions, and even digital imaging devices to help people achieve the optimal use of their vision.
Many times this allows a person to function independently again to do such things as sign checks, read mail and watch TV and see faces. This is a service that has been sorely needed in our community and we are very excited to offer it our patients. If you know of someone who may be in need of Dr. Lee's care, please contact our office at 581-5755.
